Research

My research broadly focuses on hydrology across northern Eurasia, and it is motivated by the discharge trends across the Eurasian PanArctic, documented by Peterson et al. (2001). The broad science question I am addressing is "What are the mean, variability, and trends in the water and energy cycles at the land surface of northern Eurasia?" In addition to this broad question, I'm interested in how the water and energy cycles will change under future climate conditions. I also am working on trend attribution: specifically in understanding how documented changes, such as warming soil temperatures, are affected the water and energy cycles.

My research is synthetic in nature; I use the VIC land surface model, observations, reanalysis data, and remote sensing to answer my research questions.
